While the concept of “Digital Twin” as a simulation environment is not new, the advancements in different technologies such as sensing technologies, IoT gateways and platforms as well as AI/ML are helping us to create new definition, introduce new architectures and extend its capabilities.
However, over the last years there were many successful as well as unsuccessful efforts to implement Digital Twin mainly in the areas of manufacturing and assets health monitoring. Unfortunately, most of those initiatives faced major problems and setbacks that business leaders started to wonder whether they’re just another analytics tool.
In this talk, we will explain the new definition of the Cognitive Digital Twin (CDT), its categories, introduce a new architecture and the key adoption industries and functional areas where values are the most.
Also, we will highlight some of the key technical and business challenges hindering the successful adoption of the concept of CDT especially in a post-COVID-19 world where intelligent automation of actions and decisions will decide winners and losers.
